Job Title: Network Engineer/Operations Firewall Engineer - Level 3
Location: 100% Remote(Must be in US )

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Level 3 Firewall Operations Engineer. This role is responsible for advanced operational support, configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise firewall systems, while contributing to network security automation initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep firewall expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to automate recurring operational tasks using scripting and automation frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 3 support for firewall incidents, changes, and problem resolution across enterprise environments.
- Manage, configure, and troubleshoot firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/FTD, Check Point).
- Analyze complex network traffic and security events to detect and resolve issues.
- Lead root cause analysis for major firewall-related incidents.
- Maintain and audit firewall rulebases and policies to ensure compliance with security standards.
- Create and maintain documentation for firewall operations and procedures.
- Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams for firewall deployments and upgrades.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, Ansible, etc.) to streamline repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Integrate firewall management into CI/CD or SOAR pipelines where applicable.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents off-hours as needed.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in firewall operations and network security.
- Expert-level knowledge of firewall platforms such as Palo Alto Networks, Cisco ASA/FTD, or Checkpoint.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, NAT, VPNs, and security policies.
- Strong understanding of routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
- Proficiency in automation/scripting (Python, Ansible, Bash, or similar).
- Experience with centralized management systems (Panorama, Cisco FMC,and Checkpoint Domain Manager).
