Job Overview:
Aerojet Rocketdyne, a leading aerospace propulsion manufacturer, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (L4) to support complex solid rocket propulsion system development. This position is highly technical, requiring expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), requirements management, and risk analysis. Candidates will work onsite in Huntsville, AL, on a 9/80 schedule and must hold an active Secret clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute systems engineering activities for propulsion systems projects.
- Apply MBSE techniques to manage requirements, verification, and risk.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership and customer stakeholders.
- Develop and analyze system architectures and risk/opportunity models.
- Coordinate and plan engineering tasks to meet schedule and performance goals.
- Use DOORS for requirements management and traceability.
- Support internal reviews, program proposals, and customer meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 6+ years (Bachelor’s) or 4+ years (Master’s) in aerospace or defense systems engineering.
- Active SECRET clearance (must be in place at start).
- Proven experience with MBSE methodologies.
- Proficient with IBM Rational DOORS.
- Experience in risk and opportunity management.
- Solid understanding of solid rocket propulsion fundamentals.
- U.S. Citizenship only (no dual citizens per client requirement).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing MBSE architectures for DoD/commercial systems.
- Familiarity with Cameo, SysML, UML, UPDM.
- Experience in developing proposals, basis of estimates (BOEs).
- Knowledge of DoD air/ground launched systems.
- Coursework or certification in systems engineering disciplines.
