Head of Robotics

Responsibilities:
• Strategic direction and management of the overall robotics roadmap
• Strategic leadership and direction for robotics development initiatives, aligning with the company's overall mission and objectives in collaboration with the executive team
• Driving innovation and identifying opportunities for technological advancements in robotic design, systems integration, and mission capabilities
• Leading and mentoring a team of engineers and scientists to design, develop, and test advanced robotic systems
• Keeping up to date with emerging trends and advancements in the field of warehouse robotics, identifying areas for potential integrations
• Providing expertise in the integration of robotics with warehouse technologies with a focus on increasing the TRL of the system.
• Working on fault-tolerant systems and ensuring the robustness of robotic applications in variable warehouse environments.
• Developing simulation and testing environments for robotic systems to ensure safety and efficacy before deployment.
• Overseeing the execution of development projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management.
• Fostering a culture of collaboration and cross-functional teamwork to ensure seamless integration across teams.
• Monitoring project progress, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement strategies to ensure timely delivery of high-quality platforms.
Requirements:
• 15+ years of professional experience in robotics and hardware engineering
• Expertise in the implementation of complex robotic systems for warehouse automation
• Strong leader with extensive people management experience, including engineering teams
• Background in R&D – driving product roadmap development and execution
• Experience with 3rd party vendor development and management
• Strong technical project management and/or technical program management experience
• Experience developing piece-parts and mechanical systems; taking part in fabrication, assembly, and testing of mechanical, warehouse or robotic systems
• Experienced with SolidWorks and MATLAB Simulink or similar products
• Knowledge of bolted joint analysis, finite element analysis, GD&T, traditional manufacturing processes, additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping, material selection, structures, and mechanisms.
• Familiarity with robotic OS, machine vision, computer vision, simulation, and/or autonomy software such as ROS, C++, and Python in Linux OS
• Experience in Robotics, Advanced State Estimation, Visual Odometry, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), Motion Analysis Techniques, and/or 3D Environmental Reconstruction
• Experience with tendon actuated robots is highly preferred

Compensation:
• $225K - $300K plus bonus and equity
