About the Role
We are looking for skilled Electrical Commissioning Engineers to join our European project delivery team in Finland. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all electrical systems within large-scale data centre facilities are tested, verified and fully operational prior to handover.
This position is ideal for engineers open to relocating to Finland, including those currently based in South Africa, who are seeking international experience in the fast-growing data centre sector. Full visa sponsorship, relocation assistance, and accommodation support are provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the commissioning of electrical systems across multiple levels (L1–L5).
- Perform functional and integrated testing on:
- LV and MV distribution systems
- UPS systems and battery banks
- Generator systems and automatic transfer switches (ATS)
- Power distribution units (PDUs) and busbars
- Earthing, bonding, and lightning protection systems
- Review electrical designs, schematics, and single-line diagrams to verify compliance with design intent.
- Prepare commissioning test scripts, procedures, and checklists.
- Carry out load bank testing, black building tests, and integrated systems testing (IST).
- Identify, record, and resolve any non-conformances or performance issues.
- Collaborate closely with design consultants, contractors, and client representatives.
- Ensure all testing is completed to international standards and project quality requirements.
- Produce detailed commissioning documentation and final handover reports.
Educational & Professional Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BEng / BSc) in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent higher education or strong trade-equivalent qualification (such as N6, or Trade Test Certificate) from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 5 years of electrical commissioning experience, ideally in data centres, power generation, or industrial facilities.
- Strong understanding of electrical power systems, UPS operations, and backup power infrastructure.
- Familiarity with BMS/SCADA systems, control panels, and interface testing.
- Knowledge of European electrical standards (IEC) is an advantage.
- Excellent technical documentation and fault-finding abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills in a multinational environment.
