Software Engineer (Cancer Research) in NETHERLANDS

Visa sponsorship 1 day ago

Software Engineer – Cancer Research – Amsterdam or Utrecht, or Rotterdam.

My client is a growing company focused on developing personalized cancer treatments based on the genetic makeup of individual patients. Unlike many existing cancer therapies that use a generic approach, this method offers tailored care aimed at improving patient outcomes.

The client manages a massive genomic database (over a petabyte of data) and provides data to hospital partners. This genomic data is processed on a dedicated platform where specialized algorithms analyze the information. The results from these algorithms assist hospitals in making more accurate diagnoses and recommending more effective, personalized treatments.

This collaborative data exchange happens simultaneously, enabling hospitals to receive processed insights while the client continues to manage and share vast amounts of genomic data efficiently.

Tech: Kotlin, Java, GCP, Terraform, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Python

As a software engineer, you will work directly with hospitals to integrate this data from the algorithms. The client’s development environment primarily uses Kotlin, but hospital IT systems are a black box with many programming languages and technologies. Your role includes analyzing the current IT environment at the hospital to find areas for improvement and working through the full development lifecycle. Besides development work, you may also focus on client-related tasks such as building data pipelines and refining algorithms.

1-2 days you will be a the office in Amsterdam, 1-2 days at the hospital in either Amsterdam, Rotterdam, or Utrecht, and 1-2 days from home.

You should have experience with:

  • OOP and willingness to work with Kotlin.
  • Between 2-6 years of professional experience.
  • Automating infrastructure environments using Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with these technologies is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Strong communication in either English or Dutch.

The gross annual salary can go up to €85K, including holiday allowance, along with a pension plan, laptop, and travel expenses. 26 vacation days. Visa sponsorship is possible.
