We are seeking a highly skilled Senior PHP Developer with deep expertise in backend development and a strong interest in expanding their skills in Python (FastAPI). This role is ideal for developers comfortable maintaining legacy PHP systems while transitioning into modern, scalable architectures using Python.
This is a hybrid role based in one of our offices in India (Mumbai or Hyderabad).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications primarily built in PHP.
- Collaborate on the Ongoing migration of PHP-based systems to Python (FastAPI).
- Understand and support stakeholder requirements to ensure project alignment and successful delivery.
- Build, test, and deploy RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Optimize code for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Work closely with frontend teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and architecture discussions.
- Maintain documentation and follow clean coding practices.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues across PHP and Python environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on backend development experience.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining large-scale web applications.
Must-Have Skills
- 5+ years of strong experience in PHP development (Laravel or custom frameworks).
- Solid understanding of OOP principles and MVC frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with MySQL / PostgreSQL databases.
- Working knowledge of Python (preferably FastAPI or Flask).
- Familiarity with REST API design and backend integrations.
- Proficiency with Git, Docker, and deployment workflows.
- Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Eagerness to learn and adopt new technologies, especially Python-based development.
Good- to- Have Skills
- Experience in system migration from PHP to Python.
- Knowledge of asynchronous programming, background tasks, or event-driven architecture.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Understanding of frontend technologies (React, Vue, etc.) for full-stack collaboration.
