The Role

We are seeking a high-agency Engineering Lead to take Aracor’s platform to the next level. In this role, you will own our full-stack engineering efforts end-to-end: from building and managing the team, to designing scalable architecture and deploying reliable services in production. You will drive an OSS-heavy stack, a hybrid LLM strategy (cloud + self-hosted), and modern, AI-assisted/spec-based development practices.

Responsibilities

• Full-Stack Ownership: Lead the design, architecture, and development of Aracor’s platform across the stack, ensuring high performance and scalability.
• Technical Strategy: Work closely with the key stakeholders on technical roadmap and decisions. Evaluate and introduce new technologies to improve platform performance, scalability, and reliability as needed.
• Team Building & Leadership: Hire, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of engineers. Foster a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and quality execution.
• Agile Delivery: Drive sprint planning, prioritization, and project management to ensure on-time delivery of product launches. Keep the team focused and accountable to milestones and results.
• Quality & Reliability: Own the platform’s reliability, security, and maintainability. Implement engineering best practices in code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and monitoring to uphold a robust production environment.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product and business teams to translate requirements into effective technical solutions. Communicate trade-offs and be the bridge between engineering and other stakeholders.
• Startup Hustle: Adapt and wear multiple hats as needed in a fast-paced startup setting. Whether it’s debugging a Kubernetes deployment, refining a UI workflow, or jumping on an urgent issue, you do what it takes to push the product and team forward.

What you’ll do

• Leadership & Delivery:
• Hire and mentor a 6–20+ person team; run quarterly OKRs; keep execution crisp and outcomes measurable
• Engineering Excellence:
• Establish AI-assisted SDLC (GitHub Copilot, Cursor/Windsurf), spec-based development (RFCs/ADRs, schema-first OpenAPI/GraphQL, contract tests), drive trunk-based development approach with CI/CD quality gates, SAST/DAST, and full observability (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana).
• Platform & Architecture (0→1→n):
• Lead a multi-tenant, on-prem-ready SaaS based on Kubernetes (Helm/Argo CD, Terraform) with MariaDB (InnoDB/ColumnStore), OpenSearch or Qdrant for vectors, S3 compatible object storage, Redis, and Kafka/NATS. Establish tenant isolation via app-enforced row-level access (views/procs/ABAC) and per-tenant keys.
• AI/RAG & Model Gateway:
• Build a model gateway that routes between cloud LLMs (OpenAI/Azure/Anthropic) and self-hosted like DeepSeek/Llama via vLLM/TGI; implement retrieval (BM25 + vector), rerankers, strict citations, PII/privilege redaction, guardrails, and evals (quality/latency/cost).
• Documents & Integrations:
• Own ingestion (Unstructured/Tika/Document AI), OCR, semantic chunking, and a legal-grade viewer with true content redaction (e.g., Apryse/PSPDFKit). Integrate Microsoft 365/SharePoint/Outlook, iManage/NetDocs, DocuSign/Adobe Sign.
• BSS / Monetization:
• Ship service catalog & entitlements, usage metering & rating (tokens, seats, GB-month, OCR pages), subscriptions/billing/payments (Stripe/Adyen or OSS Lago/Kill Bill), tax (VAT/GST/US via Avalara/Vertex/Stripe Tax), revenue recognition (ASC-606/IFRS-15), ERP (NetSuite/Xero), and LEDES/UTBMS e-billing.
• Security & Compliance:
• Implement SSO (OIDC/SAML), SCIM, RBAC/ABAC (ethical walls), BYOK/KMS, encryption, immutable audit, legal hold/retention, GDPR/UK-GDPR residency, SIEM integration, and supply-chain security (SCA/SBOM)

Qualifications

• Proven Technical Leader: 7+ years in software engineering, including 2+ years in a leadership role (tech lead/engineering manager) in a fast-paced environment.
• Full-Stack Expertise: Hands-on experience designing and shipping modern web applications and multi-tenant platforms end-to-end. Comfortable with our current tech stack (Python, FastAPI) backends and Vue.js frontends and excited to dive into new languages or frameworks in Rust when appropriate.
• Hybrid LLM systems: Built cloud and self-hosted LLM flows including retrieval with citations, guardrails, evals, and cost controls.
• BSS expertise: Experience of Development or integration with solutions for selling services including catalog/entitlements, usage metering & rating, billing/payments, tax, rev-rec, ERP; LEDES/UTBMS a plus.
• Security/compliance: SSO/SCIM, ABAC/ethical walls, BYOK/KMS, audit/retention, GDPR; supply-chain security.
• End-to-End Delivery: Demonstrated ability to architect and deliver complex systems from scratch – from initial design and APIs to deployment and monitoring in production.
• Team Building Experience: Proven experience hiring and leading engineers, with a track record of nurturing talent and establishing effective engineering processes (agile sprints, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, etc.).
• High Agency & Ownership: Self-driven and proactive. Thrives with autonomy and takes ownership of outcomes. Able to make decisions and solve problems independently, with a bias for action.
• Strong Communication: Excellent communicator who can explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and interface with product, design, and executive teams. Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Startup Mindset: Resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable with ambiguity. You have the startup hustle to adjust course quickly and handle the broad responsibilities that come with an early-stage team.
