Role Overview


We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Deputy Manager – Human Resources to support and drive effective HR operations across employee lifecycle, HR policies and compliance, team management, benefit administration, and talent management. This role partners closely with the Head – HR Operations & Talent Management to ensure smooth execution of HR initiatives, compliance, and a high-performing HR team aligned with organizational priorities.


Roles and Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Supervision

  • Supervise and mentor HR team members, ensuring timely and quality delivery while fostering professional development and workload management.
  • Act as deputy to Head – HR Operations; support in meetings, strategic discussions, and communications.
  • Perform additional HR operational and supervisory duties during Head’s absence.

Employee Lifecycle Management

  • Manage end-to-end employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding with accuracy and compliance.
  • Vet employment-related documentation ensuring alignment with policies and legal requirements.

Talent Management

  • Support performance management and succession planning processes.
  • Facilitate employee engagement and career development.
  • Analyse talent metrics to inform workforce planning and retention.
  • Drive alignment of talent activities with HR policies and organizational goals.

Compliance, Payroll, and Benefits Administration

  • Support payroll administration, statutory compliance, and audit preparedness by liaising with Finance.
  • Coordinate employee benefits including insurance and welfare programs.
  • Maintain audit-ready HR records and facilitate compliance checks.

Employee Relations and Grievances

  • Serve as an escalation point for disciplinary matters, ensuring fair and consistent policy application.
  • Collaborate with leadership to maintain a positive and compliant workplace culture.

Operational Excellence and Collaboration

  • Monitor HR metrics for compliance and service delivery efficiency.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support workforce planning, organizational change, and HR strategy.
  • Oversee employee relocation projects including policy, budgeting, vendor coordination, and employee support.

Process & Systems Support

  • Assist in process mapping, SLA tracking, and identifying quick wins and improvements for recruitment to onboarding, HR operations, and grievance resolution.
  • Support HR data integrity by ensuring accurate employee master data governance and statutory filings.
  • Engage with HR systems (Darwinbox and others) to maintain data accuracy, audit trails, and seamless integrations with payroll, finance, and ATS.


Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role overseeing HR operations, preferably within professional services, consulting, social impact, or international development organizations.
  • Proven success managing HR teams, compliance, process improvements, and complex employee relations.
  • Expertise with HR management systems, preferably Darwinbox, and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong knowledge of Indian labour laws and statutory compliance; global HR operations experience is a plus.
