The UI/UX Designer is responsible for collaborating with Brandt’s product and development teams to create and propose designs for new and existing features and workflows within our platforms. They are responsible for the "front" of front-end - implementing new design features and ensuring that the structure of our applications is correct and accessible. The UI / UX Designer takes direction from the UX lead to conduct UI/UX analyses, report recommendations to standardize and improve the user experience, and assist other team members with front-end needs. They possess excellent design skills, attention to detail, knowledge of usability principles and applying them to front-end development.
Job Responsibilities
- Planning & Execution: Engages with Scrum Teams throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to participate in design meetings for new features to understand requirements and create wireframes, mockups for release, and sprint priorities. Wireframes and mockups are high quality, adhere to Brandt's UI/UX standards, and align with industry customer types and user habits.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Assists in maintaining documented design standards. Works with Development to facilitate adherence to standards by reviewing newly developed features, converting approved wireframes to finished, responsive UI utilizing HTML and CSS.
- Quality Assurance: Regularly monitors system changes and user workflows to identify areas of improvement or non-conforming designs. Ensures all aspects of the platforms are responsive, accessible, support a positive user experience, and follow ADA Requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Keeps up-to-date with the latest front-end technology and trends. Conducts regular UI/UX studies on our platforms to identify ways to improve the overall user experience. Provides advice and guidance on the implementation of UX research methodologies and testing activities to analyze and predict user behavior.
Job Competencies
- A portfolio of professional UI/UX design work for both web and mobile platforms.
- Working knowledge of design tools for mockups and prototyping (Adobe Creative Suite, or InVision / Figma).
- Solid understanding of usability and design principles with experience in developing wireframes or mockups for web and mobile solutions.
- Extensive knowledge of the software development process and corresponding technologies (HTML, CSS, Javascript).
- Basic understanding or experience with Git or similar version control.
- Goal-orientated, analytical, and good decision-making skills; the ability to prioritize tasks and manage their time effectively.
- Flexibility in the workplace, able to put ego aside to focus on the needs of the team and the customer.
- Outstanding collaboration and communication (written and verbal) skills are essential.
What You Will Need
- 3-4 years of experience in UI/UX design, development, or similar role.
- Proficient in the best practices for human-centered design and solving complex user requirements in wireframes and mockups.
- Understanding of building user tests to gather data and support work.
- Proficient in applying accessibility principles to shape the user-experience and design interfaces with accessibility in mind.
- Understanding of WCAG/Accessibility and applying them to frontend code, testing to correct issues.
- Demonstrated understanding of HTML/CSS and ability to follow established patterns and syntax when writing frontend code.
- Basic understanding of other frontend languages like Javascript.

- The selected candidate should have the skills, qualifications, and experience consistent with a Staff II level within Brandt’s job architecture. The compensation range is $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 with the final level and corresponding salary determined based on the candidate’s expertise, qualifications and prior experience within the applicable pay band.
