Workster is partnering with a global leader in mobility solutions to find a skilled Senior Data Scientist – Operations Research to join their team in Lisbon, Portugal. Help shape next-generation pricing strategies by applying cutting-edge techniques like price elasticity modeling, bid price optimization, and advanced machine learning to optimize pricing decisions for millions of customers. Your work will directly drive revenue management processes and enhance the user experience.
Your Role
- Revenue Management & Price Optimization: Design, develop, and deploy advanced revenue management systems focusing on dynamic pricing and bid price optimization strategies.
- Operations Research Modeling: Formulate and solve complex optimization problems (linear, nonlinear, dynamic, stochastic) to maximize revenue and support key decision-making processes.
- Demand Forecasting & Customer Willingness-to-Pay: Create and refine forecasting models using time series and machine learning methods to capture customer demand and willingness-to-pay.
- Algorithm & Tool Development: Build and maintain robust algorithms that integrate seamlessly with production systems, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, data engineers, and software developers to deploy end-to-end solutions and continuously improve analytical models.
- Thought Leadership: Stay current on the latest research in revenue management, operations research, and machine learning. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
Your Qualifications
- Industry Experience: 5+ years in data science and operations research roles, ideally within car rental, airlines, or similar travel/hospitality sectors.
- Revenue Management Expertise: Proven track record of implementing or optimizing revenue management systems and pricing strategies.
- Optimization & Solvers: Strong background in mathematical optimization (linear, nonlinear, integer programming), solvers, and algorithm design (dynamic/stochastic programming).
- Machine Learning & Forecasting: Proficient in demand forecasting, time series modeling, and modern ML techniques (especially regression).
- Programming Skills: Expertise in Python for data analysis, modeling, and production deployment. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate complex business problems into actionable analytical tasks and clearly communicate findings to various audiences.
- Pricing & Bid Price Optimization: Practical experience designing or implementing bid price models in large-scale revenue management systems (preferred).
- Education: Master’s degree (or higher) in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field (preferred).
