Senior Network Engineer

Role purpose

Own day-to-day network operations across BCB’s hybrid environment (on-prem + Azure) while leading incremental engineering improvements. Keep the bank online, secure, and fast — then steadily modernise.

What you’ll do

• Run the network: administer and optimise routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, Wi-Fi, and WAN links across prod and DR.
• Azure networking: design/admin VNets, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, NSGs, Azure Firewall; harden connectivity for O365/M365.
• Troubleshoot & tune: monitor performance, investigate L2–L7 incidents, remove bottlenecks, and set proactive guardrails.
• Security operations: manage firewall rules, site-to-site/user VPNs, zero-trust controls, segmentation, and incident response.
• Change & maintenance: configuration changes, patching, and upgrades with disciplined change control and minimal downtime.
• Documentation: diagrams, standards, configs, runbooks, and recovery procedures kept accurate and audit-ready.
• Leadership: coach the app/network support team; embed operational best practice and on-call readiness.
• Capacity & architecture: plan growth, performance, and resilience; review designs and lead small engineering initiatives.
• Collaboration: partner with Infra, Cloud, Security, Apps, and business teams to meet SLAs and regulatory needs.
• Continual learning: track Azure/network/security advancements and propose pragmatic improvements.

What you’ll bring

• 8+ years in network engineering/architecture, incl. 3+ years leading projects/operations; 3+ years Azure cloud networking.
• Strong routing/switching: BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS; protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP; load balancing and HA patterns.
• Tooling: deep experience with enterprise platforms (Cisco/Arista/Juniper/Palo Alto or similar) and network monitoring.
• Security: firewalls, VPNs, segmentation/zero-trust, identity-aware access, and change/incident disciplines.
• IaC/SRE edge (nice to have): Terraform/Bicep for network, config management, automation scripting (PowerShell/Python).
• Certifications: CCNP/JNCIP (required or equivalent); CCIE/JNCIE is a strong plus.
