Recruitment Leader / Director – AI / Tech

NYC/US-based or in London (with relocation to New York in 12–18 months)


Permanent People are delighted to be partnering with a global recruitment firm specialising in AI and Machine Learning space. We are seeking a dynamic Recruitment Leader / Director to take on a hands-on, billing role with a clear path to growth and leadership.


This is a rare opportunity to either:

  • Step directly into the role in the US (ideally New York) with full rights to work in the US.
  • Be based in London initially, with planned relocation to New York within 12–18 months


The Role

  • Lead by example as a hands-on biller, driving revenue through business development and high-quality candidate placements.
  • Manage and grow a small team, providing coaching, leadership, and strategic direction.
  • Play a pivotal role in the growth of the AI and technology division.
  • Develop client relationships across hedge funds, trading firms, asset managers, and fintech’s in the US and global markets.
  • Contribute to long-term strategy and expansion as the business scales.


Focus Areas

Our client operates across several high-growth sectors, giving you access to exciting clients and candidates, including:

  • Engineering: Software development, AI, robotics, and leadership roles in AI and product innovation.
  • Governance: Senior appointments in AI governance, compliance, and ethical leadership.
  • Quant: Algorithmic trading, quantitative research, and machine learning roles shaping the future of finance.
  • Sales: Commercial hires from Business Development Representatives to VP Sales and Directors.


What We’re Looking For

  • Proven success in 360° recruitment, within the AI, Machine Learning, Data or quantitative markets.
  • Strong billing track record with consistent delivery.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring a team, with a desire to build and grow a function.
  • Ambition to thrive in a high-performance, international environment.
  • Willingness to relocate from London to New York (if not US-based already).
