About the Role:
You would be responsible to develop the System that can detect, classify, and precisely locate radio frequency emissions from HF to VHF & will have to drive the end-to-end architecture, design, and integration of this system β spanning RF front-end design, synchronization, signal processing, and networked data fusion.
Key Responsibilities
System Architecture & Design.
Define the overall system architecture for distributed RF sensing and geolocation (node design, timing, data links, and central fusion).
Specify interfaces between RF hardware, SDRs, embedded software, and central processing components.
RF Engineering Leadership
Design and review RF front-end chains (antennas, LNAs, filters, ADCs, and frequency plans).
Ensure coverage across the specified bands using appropriate front-end and antenna designs.
Lead evaluation and selection of SDR platforms (USRP, LimeSDR, or equivalent).
Timing & Synchronization
Architect GNSS-disciplined synchronization for TDOA-based localization.
Develop calibration procedures to achieve required geolocation accuracy & timing error.
Algorithm Integration.
Collaborate with DSP engineers to implement and validate TDOA, AOA, and hybrid geolocation algorithms.
Define test vectors, signal scenarios, and system-level validation workflows.
System Integration & Verification.
Oversee system integration from prototype to field deployment.
Define and execute test plans, calibration methods, and acceptance criteria.
Lead troubleshooting of RF performance, timing alignment, and data synchronization issues.
Qualifications
Bachelorβs or Masterβs or Phd degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field (Ph.D. preferred for research-oriented candidates).
Experience:
15+ years in RF system design, signal intelligence, radar, or satellite communications systems.
Proven experience leading multi-node distributed RF systems or TDOA/AOA-based geolocation solutions.
Hands-on experience with:
SDR platforms (USRP, LimeSDR, Ettus, HackRF, etc.)
RF front-end design and validation (LNAs, filters, mixers, ADCs)
Timing & synchronization (GPSDO, 1 PPS, 10 MHz distribution)
Wideband signal processing and spectral analysis
Strong knowledge of:
RF propagation & antenna fundamentals
Noise figure, SNR, and dynamic range optimization
System calibration and error budgeting
Preferred Skills:
Experience with GNU Radio, MATLAB/Simulink, or Python-based DSP toolchains.
Knowledge of geolocation algorithms (TDOA, AOA, multilateration, Kalman filters).
Familiarity with networking protocols for remote sensor data aggregation.
Exposure to regulatory aspects of RF monitoring (ITU, local telecom authority).
Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
Note: Sponsorship is available for qualified candidates
