About The Role

The Senior HR Generalist for the Americas region at Canonical is a strategic partner responsible for delivering high-quality, compliant HR operations and initiatives. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing HR strategies that support the company's growth and operational excellence in the region. The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between regional leadership and global HR teams, providing expert guidance on employee relations, performance management, talent development, and organizational design. This position requires a proactive, analytical, and detail-oriented professional capable of interpreting HR data trends and implementing scalable solutions. The Senior HR Generalist will also champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, ensuring a fair and engaging workplace for all employees. Working remotely within the AMER region, this role offers the opportunity to influence HR practices on a global scale while addressing regional nuances and legal requirements. The position involves close collaboration with various stakeholders, including HRIS teams, managers, and leadership, to foster a high-performance culture aligned with Canonical’s values and strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional academic record from high school and university
  • Proven HR experience leading initiatives across multiple regions within a technology or similar industry
  • Regional HR experience within Latin America, with knowledge of local labor laws and market insights (Brazil and/or Mexico preferred)
  • Experience in business partnering with senior stakeholders
  • Hands-on experience managing employee relations, performance management, and organizational design
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and deliver results
  • Experience working in a remote-first organization
  • Ability to leverage HR data and analytics for decision-making
  • Fluent in business English (written and spoken)
  • Self-motivated, organized, accurate, confident, results-oriented, and open-minded
  • Willingness to travel up to four times annually for internal events

Responsibilities

  • Deliver precise, compliant, and timely HR operations across the AMER region
  • Collaborate closely with the Americas HR Manager and Global HR leadership to implement regional strategies
  • Manage core HR processes including talent development, succession planning, onboarding, performance assessments, and engagement initiatives
  • Partner with managers to support performance management, organizational design, rewards, and workforce planning
  • Work with HRIS teams to optimize HR administrative processes and systems
  • Coach and advise managers on employee relations issues across multiple countries, ensuring legal compliance and best practices
  • Support the delivery of training and development programs tailored to regional needs
  • Establish and nurture trusted relationships with business leaders and employees within the region
  • Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to foster an inclusive workplace culture
  • Design and implement new HR policies and lead global HR projects aligned with business priorities
