The
Graph Experiences team, part of the broader Entra Programmability and Microsoft Graph Platform area, is responsible for securing and scaling Microsoft’s API ecosystem.This team plays a critical role in ensuring secure, resilient, and developer-friendly access to Microsoft Graph APIs—empowering both internal and external partners to create impactful, AI-powered solutions across the Microsoft ecosystem. The team also builds and maintains advanced telemetry pipelines that provide deep visibility into API usage, health signals, and operational anomalies. This
flexible work position is located at our Microsoft office in
Redmond, Washington. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the field location.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
- Follows best practices for product development and scaling to customer requirements and applies best practices for meeting scaling needs and performance expectations and security promises.
- Understands and applies security best practices and establishes code invariants to model "security as code," ensuring each layer is independently secure, and minimizing risk with minimal supervision.
- Understands the importance of building solutions that expand upon the work of others. Contributes to the refinement of product features by escalating findings from analyses to inform decisions regarding the engineering of products.
- Collaborate with mentors and leaders to gain a working understanding of Microsoft businesses
- Troubleshoot and optimize test automation, reliability, performance, and monitoring for production services
- Remains current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience designing, building, and operating scalable, highly available cloud services or distributed systems on platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP, or comparable cloud environments, with production ownership and CI/CD pipeline integration.
- 2+ years of experience building systems with emphasis on reliability, durability, and operational efficiency, including experience with live site operations, incident response, and performance
- 2+ years of experience programming in modern back-end languages such as C#, Java, Go, or Python.
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with API development frameworks such as OData, GraphQL, gRPC.
- Experience with designing, building, or maintaining large-scale telemetry pipelines for cloud services or APIs
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year.
There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
