AI Engineer (Agentic Systems & Internal Tooling) – Contract / Fractional
Location: Remote (U.S. Time Zones Preferred)
Duration: 3–6 Months (Initial Contract, Extendable)
Start: Late October / Early November 2025
Type: Contract / Freelance / Fractional
Overview
A leading enterprise technology organization is seeking AI Engineers to join a small, high-impact team focused on automating complex internal business processes — specifically around ERP system transformation. This is a greenfield opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI agent frameworks in a sandboxed, secure, non-production environment.
Engineers will work alongside a fractional AI leader tasked with rapidly prototyping and deploying internal tools that improve efficiency and reduce manual workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build AI-enabled tools to support process optimization and ERP migration initiatives.
- Collaborate with a fractional AI leader and internal stakeholders to define functional requirements and deliver outcomes.
- Develop multi-agent workflows using LLMs, agentic frameworks, and internal tooling.
- Integrate modern AI code assistants (e.g., Cursor, Cody) into the development process.
- Deliver lightweight, secure prototypes capable of demonstrating tangible value quickly.
Ideal Experience
We’re looking for engineers who are excited about applied AI, value fast iteration, and thrive in lean, product-focused environments.
Required:
- Hands-on experience with at least one of the following:
- LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, OpenAI Assistants API, Hugging Face Agents.
- Experience with AI pair programming environments (e.g., Cursor, Cody, GitHub Copilot).
- Understanding of agentic workflows, LLM orchestration, or agent chains.
- Background in building internal tools or automation systems (does not need to be production-grade).
Nice to Have:
- Exposure to ERP systems or enterprise process automation.
- Familiarity with concepts like model context protocols, agent swarms, or multi-agent collaboration.
- Interest in bleeding-edge AI development approaches (e.g., prompt chaining, autonomous AI agents).
- Experience in secure internal development environments.
Working Model
- Fully remote
- Preferable alignment with U.S. business hours
- Rolling contract with flexible scale-up/down potential
- Engineers will report into a fractional technical lead and collaborate directly with internal teams
