Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Manager, Information Technology Operations manages and oversees the Nunavut Arctic College (NAC) IT service support, deskside support, regional IT infrastructure, networking, telephony and security. The successfully candidate will be tasked with ensuring that the College’s Information Technology needs are met through strategic leadership, planning, management, and administration of the IT operational staff and systems.

Other Key Responsibilities Of The Position Include

  • Providing IT operations and support for all NAC campuses, Community Learning Centres (CLCs), and Research Institute (NRI) offices;
  • Identifying, recommending, developing, and implementing cost–effective and efficient technology solutions that support successful operations of IT infrastructure for NAC;
  • Supporting the delivery of the NAC IT strategic plan, including ongoing management, evergreening and innovation of NAC’s assets, networks, and systems;
  • Administering the back end of the systems and technology required for college-wide distance education program delivery;
  • Management of outsourced IT agreements with the Government of Nunavut as well as other NAC IT maintenance agreements, and software licensing agreements;
  • Managing the Inventory Management System and NAC IT Service Management team;
  • Leading the Information Technology operations, support and training;
  • Managing the IT Operational budget for the Office of the President and the three NAC campus buildings.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration (or related field). A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in an information technology field, including a minimum of two (2) years in a call centre, service desk, staging, or IT operations environment with two (2) years related experience in a supervisory or managerial position overseeing staff, information technology groups, divisions, and/or sectional teams. Assets include: Industry standard vendor certifications such as Microsoft, A+ or ITIL; previous work experience in the education field or with a similar college institution.

This is a Position of Trust, and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
