The Opportunity
We are hiring a Lead Production Designer/Drafter to join our integrated design fabrication team. This is a hands-on, leadership role that blends design documentation, production coordination, and problem-solving. You’ll set the standard for accuracy and buildability in our shop drawings, while guiding a small team of production designers to ensure seamless alignment with client intent, fabrication, and installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor Production Designers/Drafters while contributing directly to drawing and modeling tasks.
- Conduct clash detection across disciplines (metal, millwork, scenic, architectural, MEP) and provide proactive solutions to design conflicts.
- Support the development and coordination of product specifications, ensuring consistency with design intent and client requirements.
- Maintain strong communication and collaboration with creative, production, and project management teams, as well as client stakeholders.
- Utilize SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit, and other 3D/CAD tools for visualization, detailing, and documentation.
- Deliver fabrication-ready shop drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and cut lists, aligned with CNC, welding, carpentry, and scenic finishing workflows.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years in mechanical/production design for themed environments, exhibits, or specialty fabrication.
- Expertise in metal fabrication (steel/aluminum) and custom woodworking/millwork.
- Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD, and Revit; Rhino or SolidWorks a plus.
- Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring design/drafting teams.
- Strong skills in clash detection, coordination, and design-for-fabrication problem-solving.
- Familiarity with ADA, ASTM/themed safety standards preferred.
- Large-scale signage experience a plus.
