Description
- Demonstrate a breadth of knowledge in the application statistical methods and/or digital methods to solve business problems
- Coach and mentor other Information Scientists in the creation, validation, and application of statistical models, as well as in implementing digital solutions
- Acts as overall technical lead for the team in establishing a sound analytic approach for solving the problem at hand and participate in 3-4 projects concurrently.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Caterpillar Inc.; its products and services; its internal systems, processes, and procedures; and its relevant external influences (competitors, laws and regulations, market conditions, etc.) to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Demonstrate strong initiative to research and apply new methods to exceed customer expectations.
- Have a strong focus on continual learning in the Analytics field
- The incumbent will develop good networks within the technical community to enable them to collaborate on technical solutions, obtain resources and cooperation needed, and remove roadblocks so that they can ensure the success of their team.
- Demonstrates thorough statistical and/or digital technology knowledge and the ability to solve low to medium complexity problems.
- Must be able to explain conclusions to customers with limited knowledge and experience with quantitative analytical methods.
Data Scientist
- Create/maintain Data Strategy for overall Supply Management Team
- Identify opportunities of data digitalization that helps in ease of visual reporting for the global leadership across global facilities
- Develop a visualization tool for reporting using Power Bi, Power Automate, etc.,
- Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision on data reporting
- Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems
- Create performance charts for internal and external parties using specific performance data
- Knowledge of basic concepts and capabilities of programming; ability to use tools, techniques and platforms to write and modify programming languages
- Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyse and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
- Analyse data to identify supply risks and collaborate with team to raise awareness and mitigate.
Basic Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from a well reputed University/College
- 10 – 12 years of professional experience utilizing quantitative analysis is required, or,
- Master’s degree in Engineering with at least 4-6 years of experience, or
- PhD with 2 - 4 years of experience in from a similar background
- Must be comfortable working in MS Office, Access, SQL, VBA, ODBC and Industry standard IT infrastructure, statistics and data visualization packages.
- Good level of understanding on the Programming Languages, Query and Database Access tools.

- Experience and ability to collaborate across boundaries, divisions and global regions
- Experience defining standard work and processes and demonstrates very good communication skills
- Production and output of concise reports, analytical and problem-solving approach
- Ability to utilize Data analytics, Statistical modelling, Regression Analysis, Tableau, PowerBi, etc.,
- A seeker for innovation, above average initiative, people development, and interpersonal skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar Inc.; its products and services; procurement functions key processes, its internal systems, and procedures; and a general understanding of Caterpillar’s external customers, competitors, and market influencers.
- Big Data analytics, Statistical Modelling, Regression Analysis, Tableau, Power Bi, etc
In addition
- Create / Monitor Dashboards on need.
- Support new data analysis projects.
