On behalf of the European Space Agency, we will be soon looking for a highly skilled Cubesat Systems Engineering Support to in-orbit Technology demonstration Projects to work in ESTEC, in the Netherlands.

What Is Expected From You

  • Support the section's activities for In-Orbit Technology Demonstration Projects based on Cubesats;
  • Providing system engineering support, contributing throughout all the projects’ development phases and lifetime
  • Assisting in system architectures and concepts of operations’ definition.
  • Assisting in system’s and satellite subsystems’ design definition activities.
  • Assisting in requirement management including definition of system technical requirement and reviewing requirements flow-down from Space Segment System to subsystems/units, including interfaces, and help maintain requirement traceability and the requirements database / VCD
  • Supporting identification of main system drivers for design, evaluation, and trade studies, and assist project design trade-off discussion
  • Contributing to the consolidation and tracking of system budgets across the project lifecycle to support compliance checks.
  • Supporting the qualification and acceptance test and verification activities, at system, subsystem and elementary levels,
  • Assisting in identification of technical risks and elaboration of mitigations actions, with monitoring of risks’ evolution and impact on schedules and performances.
  • Interfacing with engineering disciplines and PA/QA functions in support of the system engineering function.
  • Supporting interactions with projects’ external interfaces, e.g. launch services providers, flight operations segment function, missions’ output users’ communities’ and related ground segments’ development functions.
  • Contribution to the implementation of end-to-end mission performance simulators and mission performance models.
  • Providing support for launch preparation activities, launch, LEOP and in-orbit commissioning activities.
  • Assisting in the technical monitoring of industrial activities, including preparation of and participation to meetings and reviews, in the system engineering and AIT/AIV domain.

What You Offer

  • Master's Degree in Physics or Engineering.
  • Experience in participating to reviews
  • Experience with procurement and technical monitoring of industrial activities
  • Experience with Space Engineering Standards and their preparation and implementation
  • Knowledge of Space Missions and Spacecraft Systems Design
  • Understanding of space systems architectures
  • Systems Engineering in the early project phases (trade-offs, budgets, identification of critical technology developments, etc)

Where

You will be working within ESTEC, the European Space Agency’s offices in the Netherlands as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium. We don’t expect the employees to be on-site full time however you will still have to relocate to the Netherlands for this position.
