The position will be in the Huntington, WV area, and relocation assistance is available. Experience will determine the level of Engineer (Sr, Mid or Jr).
What You'll Be Doing: The Core Mission
As the Manufacturing Engineer for your assigned processes, you'll be the driving force behind efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This is a hands-on role where you'll champion Lean Manufacturing methodology and Kaizen activities to deliver best-in-class results.
Key Responsibilities and Impact:
- Process Optimization: Emphasize continuous improvement through waste reduction, lead time reduction, and setup reduction (SMED) to enhance productivity and achieve product target costs.
- Operational Ownership: Review and refine process controls, develop cell layouts, and identify potential production problems for existing products.
- Capital & Launch Strategy: Be deeply involved in project management, determining capital needs, defining launch strategies, establishing process flows, and setting labor/machine standards.
- Quality & Collaboration: Partner with Quality Control and production teams to ensure processes and equipment consistently meet or exceed engineering and quality standards.
- Problem Solving: Lead the effort to eliminate reoccurring downtime through engineering changes and improvements, and collaborate with maintenance personnel on complex technical resolutions.
- System Ownership: Authorize key documents like engineering change notices, process alerts, and purchase orders, ensuring compliance with APQP, PPAP, and ISO/TS16949 requirements.
Job Functions: Daily Execution
You'll be on the front lines, supporting and driving improvement across the facility:
- Daily interaction with employees and maintenance to understand plant focus and barriers to performance.
- Develop workflow, effective layout, and optimize processes.
- Evaluate and implement process/product improvements.
- Work with the team to develop tooling and Poka-Yoke methods.
- Monitor new processes, equipment, and tools to ensure performance specifications are met before full production release.
- Project Management and implementation of capital and non-capital projects, including financial accountability, time-line performance, and tracking.
- Assist with training technical and production staff in processing standards.
- Develop short- and long-term strategy to support customer requirements.
- Support all plant safety rules, procedures, and standards.
Qualifications: What You Bring
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
- Required: Proven Manufacturing industry experience in a Process / Manufacturing Engineering role
Skills That Will Make You Stand Out (A Plus!):
- Product launch exposure.
- 3D CAD design experience.
- Experience with PLC (programming or trouble-shooting).
- Familiarity with Robotics / Automation.
- Automotive experience a big plus
