AWS DevOps Engineer
6-Month Contract to Hire (W2 Only)
Dallas, TX (Hybrid Relocation Provided)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and manage scalable infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines supporting our cloud-native applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Argo CD, and AWS services, with a strong focus on automation, reliability, and performance optimization.
You will be responsible for maintaining our Kubernetes clusters, managing deployment workflows through Argo CD, and ensuring our environments are secure, cost-effective, and performant. This role also includes supporting PostgreSQL database performance, monitoring system health, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure smooth and reliable application delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage Kubernetes clusters within AWS to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
- Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Argo CD, GitHub Actions, and related automation tools.
- Collaborate with developers to streamline code deployments and automate release workflows.
- Monitor compute systems (VMs, Kubernetes clusters, and containers) for performance and cost efficiency.
- Manage network configurations, including DNS, subnets, security groups, and VPN connections.
- Ensure the health and performance of PostgreSQL databases by monitoring queries, CPU usage, and storage capacity.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform and eksctl.
- Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure bottlenecks, scalability issues, and reliability risks.
- Enforce cloud and application security best practices to meet HIPAA and HITECH compliance standards.
- Define and document DevOps best practices, architecture standards, and operational runbooks.
- Stay current with evolving DevOps tools, AWS services, and security technologies to drive ongoing innovation.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, or Site Reliability Engineering roles.
- Strong experience with AWS and Kubernetes (EKS preferred).
- Hands-on experience implementing GitOps workflows using Argo CD (required).
- Experience with Docker, container orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and eksctl.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging systems (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Experience managing relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) including query optimization and performance tuning.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, CIDR, NAT, security groups, VPN).
- Working knowledge of GitHub and version control best practices.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Goal-oriented and self-directed, with a continuous drive to learn and grow.
Nice to Have
- Experience integrating Argo CD with Helm charts and GitOps automation.
- Background in Azure DevOps or multi-cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Python or PowerShell scripting for automation.
- Exposure to zero-trust networking and container security tools.
Estimated Min Rate: $45.50
