Chemours is seeking a Payroll Tax and Projects Specialist to join our growing Payroll team! This position will report directly to the Payroll Manager II.


The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as backup for processing biweekly and monthly payroll for both salaried and hourly employees.
  • Work with the payroll team to complete weekly payroll processes related to tax matters.
  • Ensure proper setup of taxes for employee relocation and stock transactions.
  • Ensure accurate setup and ongoing maintenance of employee records in the payroll system.
  • Track and monitor all payroll tax deposits and payments.
  • Balance and validate tax records transferred to ADP.
  • Manage the setup and closure of tax accounts with state and local jurisdictions as required.
  • Stay current with legislation and regulatory changes affecting payroll tax.
  • Ensure payroll and payroll tax processes are thoroughly documented, with clear and accessible instructions.
  • Distribute payroll reports to management and other stakeholders.
  • Research outstanding payroll tax issues and collaborate with ADP to resolve tax notices in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile and investigate discrepancies in periodic, quarterly, and annual filings, including Form W-2s.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll documentation and explanations.
  • Participate in state tax audits.
  • Assist with payroll-related projects and year-end activities as needed.


In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • 3 + years of payroll tax experience in a multi-state environment for a publicly traded company.
  • Strong knowledge of SOX Controls as it pertains to Payroll Tax.
  • Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar
  • Advanced Excel experience (pivot tables, lookups, and complicated excel formulas)
  • Familiarity with an outside vendor payroll process
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment in a growing industry.
  • Good communication and problem solving skills.
  • Aptitude and desire for continuous learning.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and meet customer expectations.


The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or similar
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills needed to interface and establish rapport with all levels of the organization including executive team members
  • A proactive, high energy attitude geared towards achieving continuous improvement
  • Flexibility and adaptability: ability to operate in a fast paced, rapidly evolving, and data driven organization
  • Ability to work with all members of the Project Team (includes direct employees, consultants and implementation partner team members) to ensure alignment and coordination.
