About the role:
We’re hiring a hands-on Email Marketing and Deliverability Engineer to scale multi-brand mailings and reactivation flows. We need a creative operator — someone who combines engineering-level SMTP/ESP knowledge with marketer instincts, plus the courage to experiment with non-standard (but compliant) tactics to materially improve inbox placement, engagement and conversions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own deliverability and sending infrastructure for multi-brand campaigns (ESP + self-hosted SMTP stack) or any other third party software.
- Design, execute and optimize lifecycle, reactivation and cross-brand broadcast programs to drive measurable revenue and retention.
- Implement advanced deliverability tactics (domain/IP strategy, warm-up, reputation management, feedback loop handling) while ensuring compliance with GDPR/CAN SPAM/PECR and platform policies.
- Lead data hygiene, segmentation, suppression logic and bounce/backscatter handling.
- Build automation and monitoring (alerts, blacklists, deliverability dashboards, engagement cohorts).
- Create high-performing HTML templates and AMP/interactive mail where appropriate, and partner with design to A/B test creative.
- Troubleshoot deliverability incidents fast — own remediation and post-mortems.
- Coordinate with tech, legal, CRM and affiliates to enable tracking, attribution and safe data usage across brands.
- Mentor ops team and document robust playbooks for sending cadence, domain rotations, and escalation flows.
Requirements:
- 4+ years operating high-volume email at scale (10M+/month) — ideally with multi-brand or affiliate experience.
- Deep technical knowledge: SMTP, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, MTA config (PowerMTA/Postal/Custom), ESPs, and IP/domain warm-up strategies.
- Proven experience building deliverability tooling and monitoring (postmaster consoles, blacklist checks, engagement scoring).
- Track record of creative, results-driven experimentation (A/B tests, subject line + payload, sending windows) that moved revenue.
- Clear understanding of global email law & platform rules and ability to design compliant workarounds when needed.
- Comfortable negotiating with vendors, IP providers, and third-party lists; experience managing outsourced mailing partners.
- High attention to process, documentation and auditability.
