A Tokyo-based speech and music software developer is seeking a skilled
Full-stack Web Engineer to maintain and extend their web UI and backend systems. The role covers license management, main website operations, and e-commerce systems with a 70/30 focus on frontend and backend respectively. This position is part of a multilingual, globally distributed team, with English as the primary working language. Relocation to Tokyo is preferred, but remote work can be considered for strong candidates.
Full Stack Web Engineer Job Details
Position Type: Full Time Contract to Hire (conversion after 3-6 months of contract work)
Reports to: Engineer Product Manager, Head of Sales & Marketing
Collaborates with: Web Backend Engineer and Design Team
Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance the company's web-based UI and backend platforms.
- Implement features based on Figma designs, interpreting user needs where designs are incomplete.
- Collaborate with the Engineer Product Manager, Head of Sales & Marketing, Web Backend Engineer, and Design Team.
- Participate in team discussions and problem solving, demonstrating strong written and verbal communication.
- Support deployment and maintenance of systems, potentially including ML model integrations.
Requirements
- 3+ years of industry experience in web development.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, PHP, and Python.
- Familiarity with Vue.js for frontend and Django for backend.
- Ability to translate Figma designs into functional UI, with an understanding of user behavior.
- Experience working in a team and independently solving problems.
- Music production or instrument experience is a plus.
- English proficiency sufficient for video calls; translator-supported communication is acceptable depending on clarity.
- Experience with server-side deployment of machine learning models is a plus.
- Preference for onsite work in Tokyo; remote options negotiable.
