Direct Hire | $125,000–$130,000 base + 15% bonus + $10K RSUs

Role Summary

The Senior Payroll Manager will lead the strategic direction, integrity, and delivery of all North American payroll operations. This role is critical to ensuring compliance, optimizing systems, and driving modernization across payroll functions. As a trusted partner to HR, Finance, and business leadership, this individual will play a key role in supporting growth, managing acquisitions, and building scalable, technology-driven payroll processes.

You will oversee a high-performing payroll team, implement process improvements through Workday and automation tools, and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll delivery. This is a leadership role that combines operational excellence with forward-thinking innovation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all North American payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
  • Evaluate payroll-related regulations and implement changes to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Develop and maintain robust payroll policies, internal controls, and SOX compliance documentation.
  • Optimize and enhance Workday Payroll functionality, leveraging automation and AI/RPA to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Collaborate with HR, Benefits, and Finance teams to align payroll processes and data integrity across systems.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop payroll staff to build future leaders and maintain a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Support payroll activities related to account reconciliations, accruals, and journal entry reviews.


Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of progressive payroll experience in a large, complex, multi-entity environment; 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation required.
  • Proven experience managing payroll across multiple regions, ideally including the U.S. and Canada.
  • Strong expertise in Workday Payroll preferred; candidates with ADP, SAP, or Oracle experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated success leading payroll through implementations, upgrades, or acquisitions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities.
