Instead of relying solely on traditional lab testing, this team is building virtual models of human cells—powered by AI—to predict how drugs will work on real patients. 📍 Location: South San Francisco (preferred) or Toronto
💰 Compensation: $175,000 – $250,000 + equity + benefits
🧬 Stage: Series A ($30M+) | ~20 employees and growing
Why this role?
The company is expanding from research tools into scalable, production-ready platforms—and they need a Cloud Software Architect with proven experience with Python Coding & AWS with experience supporting heavy-duty ML Workflows / intensive data processing for ML Model Training to lead the way. You’ll be the technical backbone bridging data engineering, bioinformatics, software and machine learning teams, ensuring their software ecosystem is robust, cohesive, and ready to scale.
What you’ll do:
- Act as a hands-on technical leader: not just writing code, but setting frameworks, architecture, and best practices.
- Own cloud infrastructure (AWS is core; exposure to GPU compute, Docker & Kubernetes too)
- Build bridges across teams, aligning ML, bioinformatics, and software engineering efforts.
- Guide junior engineers and bioinformatics developers while shaping long-term technical strategy.
- Help transition the company from fragmented pipelines to production-grade, external-facing products.
- Influence resourcing and scaling decisions—your input will shape the future of the engineering org.
About you:
- Strong background in cloud architecture, especially AWS (EC2, S3, Batch, pipelines).
- Hands-on coding experience in python plus the seniority to set direction and frameworks.
- Proven exp in complex, data voluminous environments, with a keen interest in Bio/Science (bio/health/AI/ML is a bonus, but not required).
- Familiar with heavy duty ML workflows and how compute and data pipelines support them.
- Thrives in a startup setting—fast-paced, resource-constrained, but high-impact.

- Exp supporting computationally-intensive data processing and ML model training
