- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including systems engineers, flight crew, software engineers, and hardware engineers to gather requirements and translate them into intuitive HMI designs.
- Develop HMI software for ground control stations, remote piloting interfaces, and on-board vehicle systems.
- Focus on user experience (UX) and human factors engineering principles to create clear, concise, and responsive interfaces that optimize operator decision-making and reduce cognitive load.
- Integrate HMI solutions with underlying control systems, telemetry data, and mission systems.
- Conduct usability testing, gather user feedback, and iterate on HMI designs to continuously improve the operator experience.
- Ensure HMI systems comply with relevant aerospace industry standards (e.g., DO-178C, ARINC, IRIG 106 as applicable).
- Create test scenarios for user level HMI testing.
- Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, code reviews, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve HMI-related issues, ensuring system reliability and performance.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest HMI development technologies, trends, and best practices in the aerospace and robotics domains.
