Job Description
As part of Hapag-Lloyd IT Team, you lead a team of
12 colleagues located in Gdansk. The team's focus will be on providing a central event/message HUB based on a
Kafka solution. This solution will become the internal messaging backbone of the Hapag-Lloyd
Freight Information System (FIS).
You will work together with colleagues in the IT in Hamburg, Gdansk and Chennai. The FIS development Teams in Hamburg and Gdansk are currently considerably ramping up based on our mission to migrate the FIS application from the mainframe onto a modern cloud platform.
The
"Freight Information System" is today and in the future the core application to manage the business of Hapag-Lloyd worldwide.
Responsibilities
Building up and lead a Team of Experts
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of Kafka specialists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
- Develop and implement strategies for team growth, skill enhancement, and knowledge transfer.
Designing Central Kafka Architecture
- Architect, design, and implement a robust and scalable central Kafka platform aligned with our enterprise architecture to meet the organization's evolving needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
Implementing the Infrastructure
- Oversee the implementation of Kafka infrastructure, ensuring best practices for performance, reliability, and security.
- Lead efforts to automate deployment, monitoring, and scaling of Kafka clusters.
Operation of the implemented solution
- Manage and maintain Kafka clusters, monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system stability.
- Collaborate with DevOps and IT teams to integrate Kafka seamlessly into the overall infrastructure.
- Establish 24/7 incident response procedures and collaborate with the team to resolve critical issues promptly.
Providing Guidance for Users and Support-Teams through Training and Documentation
- Create and deliver training programs for users to ensure effective utilization of the Kafka platform.
- Develop comprehensive documentation, guidelines, and best practices for developer and support teams.
Qualifications
Proven Leadership Skills
- Demonstrated experience in leading and developing high-performing technical teams.
Expertise in Kafka Architecture
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in designing and implementing Kafka architecture at an enterprise level.
Infrastructure Implementation
- Strong background in implementing and maintaining Kafka cloud infrastructure, including automation and orchestration.
Operational Excellence
- Proven ability to manage and operate Kafka clusters in a 24/7 production environment incl. planning and executing on-call duties, incident response, and resolution.
User Guidance and Training
- Effective communication skills and experience in providing clear guidance through documentation and training programs.
