The Human Services Department (HSD) seeks an experienced IT professional to join their team as a Human Services IT Systems Technician!
Starting salary up to $ 48.51 /hour ($ 101,246 /year) plus a competitive total compensation package!*
Responsibilities
The Human Services Department's Information Technology Unit serves 1000+ employees who provide a wide variety of Social Services programs to the community. The unit is responsible for providing quality support in a fast-paced environment with a high level of professionalism. The Human Services IT Systems Technician is responsible for providing ongoing technical support for hardware and software systems throughout the Human Services Department, ensuring their operation, installation, maintenance, and support. This position requires a high level of technical expertise to provide hardware and software assistance, troubleshooting, and problem-resolution. Additional responsibilities include:
- Serving as first point of contact for any remote technical issues that require onsite support
- Coordinating and performing the configuration, installation, upgrade, or relocation of information system components, including computers, peripherals, software, and network related components
- Collaborating with IT team members to plan and implement various IT projects, including software installations, upgrades, and migrations
- Interacting with the Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) system for incident response and service requests
- Performing regular site visits to maintain familiarity and rapport with department staff
- Maintaining organization of hardware inventory and lifecycle for IT equipment across the department

- Expertise performing technical support duties involving hardware and software systems

- Working knowledge of enterprise endpoint management
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Windows operating environment
- An aptitude for effectively managing work priorities and meeting deadlines
- Knowledge of ITSM framework and Change Management best practices
- An understanding of computer hardware and peripherals, Windows OS, Active Directory, Entra Active Directory, Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Intune, BitLocker, Multi-Factor Authentication, IT Service Management, Asset Management, Knowledge Management, Cisco Jabber, and Cisco Finesse

This recruitment is currently being conducted to fill a Human Services IT Systems Technician position in the Human Services Department. This employment list may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, or extra-help (temporary) positions as they occur during the active status of the list.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and training which would provide the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally this would include:
Two years of full-time experience performing computer systems support, at least one year of which included configuring, installing, monitoring and maintaining systems components in a multi-platform information systems environment AND
The equivalent to completion of nine semester or twelve quarter units in information systems, computer science or a closely related field.
License: Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including necessary special endorsements, as required by the State of California to perform the essential job functions of the position.
The position advertised on this announcement requires possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of: c ustomer support techniques; basic network principles; commonly used software applications; system performance monitoring; troubleshooting; technical documentation methods and procedures; IT systems components and architecture; IT systems security methods and techniques; oral and written communication techniques; network equipment, tools and peripherals; operating systems installation and configuration procedures; and server maintenance techniques.
Ability to: communicate factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing; gather and analyze basic facts and draw conclusions; install, configure, and test software on customer workstations; identify and resolve issues and problems; prepare and update manuals, instructions, and operating procedures; provide information and assistance to customers; ensure the application of appropriate security measures in accord with established procedures; assist in implementing and maintaining network and systems services; monitor network and systems performance and troubleshoot basic problems; maintain database operations; create reports and manipulate data in response to customer requirements; and carry out server maintenance functions.
