Propel Finance was established in 1996 to provide flexible and accessible finance to SMEs across the country. Now, more than 20 years on, Propel has grown to become one of the UK’s largest, independent finance houses. We have continued to deliver leading-edge finance solutions through a unique combination of teamwork and technology.
From this continued success we are now looking to recruit a Senior Automation Test Analyst to allow us to continue our exciting growth plans.
Our aim is to take the service we offer to the next level, to push the boundaries of what’s available, and to create great customer experiences consistent with our values. Does that sound like something you’d like to be part of?
The Role
As an experienced Senior Automation Tester, you will lead our automation efforts using Playwright. This role combines hands-on automation expertise with mentorship responsibilities, helping to elevate our testing practices and develop the skills of junior team members.
Role responsibilities;
- Ensure that the product or system works as intended — by systematically validating that it meets functional and non-functional requirements.
- Identify defects or risks early — so issues can be fixed before they reach the end user, saving time, cost, and reputation damage.
- Provide clear, reliable information about quality — by executing test cases, logging defects, and reporting results to stakeholders so they can make informed release decisions.
- Advocate for the end user — by testing from the perspective of how real users will interact with the system, ensuring it’s usable, reliable, and fit for purpose.
- Support continuous improvement — by providing feedback to developers and product teams, contributing ideas to make processes, automation, or test coverage better over time.
- Without a Test Analyst, there’s no one dedicated to designing comprehensive test cases and scenarios to cover all business requirements, edge cases, and exceptions.
- Developers might test their own work, but this often leads to “happy path” testing only — missing defects that only an independent tester would catch.
Key skills required;
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining comprehensive end-to-end test automation frameworks using Playwright across multiple browsers and devices.
- Ability to create robust, maintainable test scripts following industry best practices and design patterns.
- Experience implementing advanced testing strategies including visual regression testing, API testing, and accessibility testing.
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright for web application testing
- Good knowledge SQL and API testing knowledge
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript for automation scripting
