Senior System Engineer in GREATER PITTSBURGH REGION

Apex Systems is currently hiring for a Senior Systems Engineer with one of our largest retail clients based in Pittsburgh, PA. The Senior Systems Engineer contractor is responsible for infrastructure engineering, implementation, deployment and support of our identity platform technology services.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engineer and design functions for our infrastructure services and applications including, but not limited to Active Directory and Domain Services, messaging, single sign-on, identity access management, and automation
  • Document and maintain technology standards, configurations, service catalogs and multi-year roadmaps
  • Maintain awareness of trends and issues and evaluate new opportunities in all related technologies
  • Proactively identify and grow our processes, services and technologies to scale to meet the global demand of the business
  • Deliver world-class technology support to our internal IT teams as well as all areas of the business
  • Drive for continual development and maintenance of performance reporting as well as technical and process documentation improvements
  • Actively participate in developing and maintaining our disaster recovery plans and solutions
  • Communicate technical topics at engineering, management and business levels
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned


Qualified candidates will have the following experience and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, or equivalent technical qualifications
  • 4+ years’ experience managing and growing large infrastructures using related technologies for Active Directory
  • Experience across Active Directory and Windows Server domains to include:
  • Active Directory Administration Expertise
  • Enterprise environment with multiple forests
  • DNS
  • Sites and services
  • Group Policy Management (GPO)
  • DHCP
  • Disaster Recovery Experience for AD services
  • Microsoft KMS
  • RDP Terminal Services
  • Domain controller maintenance and upgrades (Patching / OS / Functional upgrades)
  • PKI Concepts and implementation
  • Ideal experience includes:
  • Azure Active Directory
  • Google Suite/Google Workspace knowledge
  • ADFS / SSO Experience (SAML / OIDC protocols)
  • PowerShell Scripting and Automation expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to assess risk of technical changes
  • Strong ability to proactively identify and evaluate incidents and problems, determining root cause
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline-oriented environment



Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Onsite expectation: Applicants need to be local to Pittsburgh, PA (or open to relocation) and open to commuting to the office 1 day a week.


Pay range: $65-$75/hour

Contract to hire: 6-12 Months
