About the role:
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead Garner's Data management team, which is made up of Data Analytics Engineers (DAEs). This team builds and governs the pipelines, DBT models, and curated datasets that power analytics, data science, and product features across the company.
You'll manage engineers with deep expertise in SQL, DBT, ELT/ETL, and data modeling, guiding them to deliver production-grade data products on top of Garner's core data infrastructure.
Where you will work:
This role will be based in our New York City office. You must be willing to work in the office 3 days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Relocation assistance is available for non-local candidates.
What you will do:
- Lead a team of Data Analytics Engineers delivering production-grade data products
- Drive Garner's data governance strategy: lineage, quality checks, contracts, metadata management, and compliance with regulated data standards
- Partner closely with the Data Engineering (infrastructure) team to ensure data products run seamlessly on shared platforms
- Provide technical guidance in data modeling, performance tuning, orchestration, and dataset design
- Collaborate with product, analytics, and data science stakeholders to deliver trusted, business-aligned data products
- Mentor DAEs, foster best practices, and grow Garner's next generation of data engineering leaders
What you will bring to the team:
- 6+ years of experience working in the software engineering industry
- 3+ years of experience working in a Data Engineering function
- 1+ years of experience managing data analytics engineers or data engineers
- Proven experience with DBT and modern data stack tools (Spark, Iceberg, AWS Glue, Dagster, Soda, Airflow, etc.)
- Strong track record implementing data governance frameworks: data quality, lineage, cataloging, and access management
- Expertise in storage/query optimization in cloud-based environments
- Ability to provide technical guidance and translate complex business requirements into a well-executed technical roadmap
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g. HIPAA, EDI) is highly desirable
- A willingness to "roll up your sleeves" and do whatever is necessary to ensure company success
- Experience working in a rapidly evolving startup environment

Compensation Transparency:
The target salary range for this position is $225,000 - $240,000. Individual compensation for this role will depend on various factors, including qualifications, skills, and applicable laws. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible to participate in our equity incentive and competitive benefits plans, including but not limited to: flexible PTO, Medical/Dental/Vision plan options, 401(k), Teladoc Health and more.
