Job Description:
We’re looking for a Site Safety Specialist to be the safety leader on our construction site in Amarillo, TX. If you’re passionate about keeping everyone safe, great at spotting hazards and love working with a team to keep projects running smoothly, this role is for you.You’ll be out in the field, ensuring our crew follows safety protocols, monitoring compliance, and creating a secure environment for exciting construction projects.
What you’ll do:
- Monitor adherence to company and site-specific safety programs, as well as Federal/State regulations (including OSHA)
- Conduct regular field safety audits and site inspections to identify and address potential hazards
- Communicate with jobsite supervision and craft workers about observed safety practices, both good and bad
- Ensure corrective measures are implemented immediately and follow up to confirm effectiveness
- Verify that all personal protective equipment (PPE), including task-specific gear, is worn properly at all times
- Lead accident investigations, complete detailed reports, and recommend preventive measures
- Submit and record jobsite safety information through data entry systems
- Participate in pre-construction, pre-task planning and handoff meetings to align on safety goals
- Assist in conducting safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions for field crews and subcontractors
- Coordinate with project managers and field teams to address safety concerns promptly
- Maintain and update safety logs, reports, and documentation for audits and compliance
- Work with external inspectors or regulators during site safety audits
- Use tools like Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Bluebeam for reports and documentation
- Tackle challenges with strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced construction environment
- Perform other tasks as needed to support a safe and successful project
What you’ll need:
- OSHA 30 Hour certification
- Trainer certification for NFPA 70E, first aid/CPR/AED
- Journeyman electrical license
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field preferred
- Board of Certified Safety Professionals Certification (e.g. CSP, CHST, STSC)
- Background in electrical safety and knowledge of construction safety and current federal/state regulations
- At least one year experience in construction safety or a related role (experience on commercial or data center projects is a plus)
- Ability to freely access all points of a construction site (sit, stand, walk, climb) in various climates and environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with teams and stakeholders
- Strong organizational and time management skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Bluebeam
- Reliable and regular attendance record
- Valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
- Ability to pass background check and drug/alcohol tests
- Willingness to work full-time, on-site in Amarillo, TX
