Position Summary
The Cloud System Administrator will play a critical role in managing and optimizing the company’s AWS and cloud-based infrastructure. This role involves hands-on administration of cloud environments, automation of infrastructure deployment, and close collaboration with engineering and IT teams to support enterprise applications, storage systems, and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads.
This position requires strong technical expertise across AWS, Windows/Linux administration, and scripting, as well as experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and manage AWS EC2 instances for optimal performance, scalability, and security.
- Administer cloud user accounts, permissions, and IAM roles, ensuring appropriate access controls.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation templates.
- Perform Windows and Linux system administration, including patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Install, configure, and maintain CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) applications in cloud environments.
- Administer and maintain NetApp storage systems and enterprise file shares.
- Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud services.
- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and scalability of cloud resources.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on cloud server administration experience.
- Strong understanding of AWS instance types, networking, storage, and security groups.
- Experience managing IAM roles, policies, and federated access.
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation, Terraform, or equivalent).
- Advanced Windows and Linux OS administration with scripting and troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated success managing AWS environments at scale.
Desired Skills
- Experience deploying and maintaining cloud applications via CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of HPC job schedulers (e.g., Slurm, PBS) and performance tuning.
- Experience managing NetApp ONTAP, CIFS/NFS shares, snapshots, and replication.
- Familiarity with CAE tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.) in cloud environments.
- Ability to automate system configuration and updates using Ansible or PowerShell.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and continuous improvement.
Preferred Background
- 3+ years of Big 4 consulting experience preferred.
