We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Test Equipment Engineer to lead the design, development, and lifecycle support of advanced Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation (HILS) and Production Test Equipment (PTE) systems. This role is ideal for an engineer with deep technical expertise in electrical design, instrumentation, and simulation, particularly within defense or high-reliability manufacturing environments.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and compliance of test systems that support the development and production of complex weapon systems. This includes hands-on design, software development, system integration, and ongoing support in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate system simulation and testing requirements into HILS and PTE product specifications.
- Define and document detailed design architectures and concepts for HILS and PTE benches.
- Design, develop, build, and commission HILS and PTE systems.
- Develop and maintain HILS simulation and self-test software aligned with product specifications.
- Generate PTE test software in accordance with Acceptance Test Specifications for weapon systems and subsystems.
- Produce and maintain product data packs and software Product Data Indexes (PDIs) in SAP.
- Implement design improvements, resolve electronic/electrical issues, and manage component obsolescence.
- Upgrade HILS and PTE systems to support evolving system configurations.
- Ensure compliance between system specifications and HILS/PTE hardware/software baselines.
- Maintain serialized build history for HILS and PTE benches in the EBHD system.
- Provide preventative maintenance and continuous support to production teams to ensure PTE serviceability and minimal downtime.
- Conduct ad-hoc testing and compile detailed technical reports.
- Ensure adherence to internal COPPs and relevant DoD and MIL standards.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Electronic Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in product development and testing within development and production environments.
- Strong foundation in electrical design, instrumentation, and simulation.
- Proven experience in designing and supporting HILS and PTE systems.
- Proficiency in LabVIEW, TestStand, SAP, and EBHD systems.
- Familiarity with MIL standards and defense compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage obsolescence and implement system upgrades.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams with a collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Software development capability is an advantage.
