The Role: Product Designer
As our Product Designer, you will shape the visual and interactive experience of our platform—transforming complex ideas into intuitive, impactful designs that inspire engagement and action. You will collaborate closely with our Build Team and report directly to the Chief Product Officer, ensuring every feature, screen, and interaction reflects our mission, values, and global audience.
Conditions:
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: Part-time (volunteer, pro bono role)
- Contribution Requirements: minimum 10–15 hours a week; minimum 3 months.
What Will You Do?
Design Leadership:
- Create elegant, user-centered designs for our platform—spanning wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI.
- Translate product requirements and ideas into intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling experiences for a diverse, global user base.
- Develop and maintain a consistent design system, ensuring visual and interaction patterns align with brand identity and mission.
Collaboration & Execution:
- Work closely with the Build Team, engineers, and product managers to bring designs from concept to implementation.
- Provide detailed design specifications and assets, ensuring smooth handoff and efficient build cycles.
- Partner with the Chief Product Officer to refine and prioritize design tasks that align with product roadmap goals.
User-Centered Innovation:
- Conduct user research, gather feedback, and iterate designs based on data and insights.
- Champion accessibility and usability best practices to make the platform inclusive for all.
- Stay updated on design trends, tools, and industry best practices to keep our platform innovative and competitive.
Workflow & Tools:
- Manage design projects in ClickUp, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
- Collaborate with the team using Google Workspace for documentation and Slack for communication.
- Use Figma as the primary tool for design creation, prototyping, and collaboration.
Who Are We Looking For?
Creative Problem-Solvers:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in product design, UX/UI design, or related roles—preferably in tech, social impact, or nonprofit platforms.
- Proven ability to design complex products for web and mobile with a focus on clarity, engagement, and usability.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma and comfort working with project management (ClickUp), communication (Slack), and collaboration (Google Workspace) tools.
- Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and user-centered design principles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain design decisions to stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and excited to work in a global, mission-driven environment.
Bonus Points For:
- Experience designing for multilingual or multicultural platforms.
- Familiarity with design systems for scalable products.
- Previous volunteer or nonprofit work.
