Automation Test Engineer

Your Next Hire are partnered with a SaaS company who are transforming the automotive industry with modern, cloud-based software used across the UK and Europe. We’re now looking for an Automation Test Engineer to take ownership of our automation journey and help define the future of testing.
This is a chance to make a big impact: setting the direction for automation, building a brand-new strategy alongside our technical leadership, and ensuring our next-gen cloud platform is robust, scalable, and high-quality.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading on end-to-end automation with Playwright (our chosen tool)
- Driving UI test automation (API testing experience also valuable)
- Working closely with devs who already cover unit & integration testing
- Helping shape and document a test strategy (with support from Engineering Leadership Team)
- Verifying outcomes using SQL & NoSQL databases
- Collaborating with a cross-functional team to raise quality across the board
- Mentoring manual testers as we scale automation in the future
What we’re looking for
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright (or similar)
- Proven ability in UI automation testing and building E2E test suites
- Experience querying databases to validate outcomes (SQL/NoSQL)
- Understanding of Cloud - either AWS or Azure
- Proactive, collaborative mindset, able to take ownership and push things forward
Nice to have: load testing (K6, JMeter, Playwright), API test automation & knowledge of security/accessibility testing.
