Overview
The Payroll Manager (PRM) is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring compliance with payroll policies, and delivering accurate, timely payroll. This role supports Deel’s internal employee payroll and contractor payments across the EMEA and APAC regions. The PRM is expected to drive operational efficiency, accuracy, and excellence while supporting a positive team member experience. Payroll is one of Deel’s most critical functions, ensuring employee engagement and satisfaction.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and process payrolls for employees and contractors in EMEA and APAC according to the payroll schedule across multiple entities.
- Establish and maintain accurate payroll records.
- Verify payroll records for compliance with established standards, including SOC and SOX requirements.
- Implement employee pay and tax status changes.
- Prepare accurate payroll-related management and accounting reports.
- Work cross-functionally with Global Payroll Operations, Finance, and People teams to ensure proper taxation, reporting, and compliance.
- Manage payroll workflows to ensure all transactions are processed accurately and on time.
- Apply correct tax treatment and ensure compliance with employer-paid benefits requirements.
- Ensure country-specific statutory payments and deductions are processed correctly.
- Review payroll data to ensure all scheduled payments are properly approved and all validation steps are completed before submitting final processed data for further management approval.
- Prepare and submit required compliance filings for payroll reporting.
- Manage accurate and timely year-end reporting.
- Process manual payroll cycles as required.
What You’ll Need
- Strong knowledge of payroll best practices, payroll systems, and relevant laws across EMEA & APAC.
- Ability to interpret and apply regulations across multiple countries and entities.
What You Bring
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in payroll processing across assigned countries or regions.
- Payroll certifications and training in relevant regions preferred.
- Proven experience managing payroll across multiple entities.
- Strong understanding of employee and employer payroll regulations.
- Experience with enterprise payroll technology (Workday, Deel, SAP, ADP, etc.) highly preferred.
- Prior experience managing team members dispersed across different time zones.
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles, with ability to analyze payroll impact on financial statements, P&L, and balance sheet variances.
- Strong understanding of timekeeping and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
- Strong analytical, data validation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities in fast-paced environments.
- Effective management and leadership skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service and stakeholder management abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to partner successfully within and outside HR.
- High emotional intelligence (empathy, cultural awareness, and integrity).
- Ability to adapt to legislative changes and explain their impact to stakeholders.
- Prior experience in technology-driven global businesses is an advantage.
