About The Role
The Senior HR Generalist - Americas at Canonical is a strategic and operational role designed to support and enhance the company's human resources initiatives within the North and South American regions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of HR practices in a fast-paced, innovative environment. The successful candidate will serve as a key partner to regional leadership, providing expert guidance on employee relations, talent management, organizational development, and compliance. They will be instrumental in implementing global HR policies while tailoring initiatives to meet regional needs. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong project management skills, data-driven decision-making capabilities, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization. The Senior HR Generalist will work closely with the global HR team and regional managers to foster a high-performance culture, promote diversity and inclusion, and drive employee engagement across the Americas.
Qualifications
- Exceptional academic record from high school and university
- Proven HR experience in a regional or global technology organization
- Experience working within Latin American countries, especially Brazil and/or Mexico, with knowledge of local labor laws and market conditions
- Strong business partnering skills with senior stakeholders
- Hands-on experience managing employee lifecycle processes such as onboarding, performance management, and succession planning
- Experience mentoring and developing HR team members or colleagues
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results on time
- Experience working in a remote-first organizational environment
- Ability to analyze data, interpret trends, and make informed decisions
- Fluent in business English, both written and spoken
- Self-motivated, organized, accurate, confident, and results-oriented
- Willingness to travel up to four times per year for internal and regional events
Responsibilities
- Deliver precise, compliant, and timely HR operations across the Americas region
- Collaborate with the Americas HR Manager and Global Head of HR to align regional HR strategies with global initiatives
- Manage talent development programs, succession planning, performance assessments, and onboarding processes
- Partner with managers to support performance management, organizational design, employee engagement, and rewards planning
- Work with HRIS and other systems to optimize HR administrative processes and workflows
- Coach and advise managers on employee relations issues, ensuring legal compliance and best practices across multiple countries
- Support the delivery of training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and engagement
- Establish and maintain trusted relationships with business leaders and teams within the region
- Lead diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to foster an inclusive workplace culture
- Design, implement, and oversee HR policies and business-critical projects aligned with organizational goals
- Monitor and analyze HR metrics to inform decision-making and continuous improvement
