About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer specialized in Cloud Security to join our Security team. This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure cloud infrastructure and systems to support OpenAI’s mission. As a Security Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and security to embed security best practices into our global infrastructure. Your expertise will help safeguard our technology, data, and users by developing scalable security controls, automating security workflows, and driving security initiatives that align with our organizational goals. This position offers flexibility for remote work or relocation assistance to our offices in San Francisco, Seattle, or New York City, providing an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge AI research in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
- Deep understanding of security principles, best practices, and vulnerabilities
- Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable security solutions
- Extensive knowledge of cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, or similar
- Experience securing multi-cloud environments and designing cloud-agnostic systems
- Familiarity with container security, orchestration security, and related tools
- Strong automation skills and experience with scripting and infrastructure as code
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication skills for conveying complex security concepts to diverse audiences
- Ability to work proactively and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
- Prior experience in infrastructure security, automation, and security operations
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable security controls to protect infrastructure across global deployments
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy security enhancements and control changes
- Develop automation workflows to improve security operations and routine tasks
- Identify and address security gaps through proactive analysis and tooling
- Support security incident response and vulnerability management efforts
- Build and maintain secure cloud architectures, including multi-cloud networks
- Implement container and orchestration security best practices
- Engage with cross-functional teams to promote security awareness and best practices
- Contribute to security documentation, standards, and compliance efforts
- Participate in ongoing security assessments and risk analysis activities
