Job Description Summary GE Renewable – Grid Integration product line is globally recognized for designing, manufacturing, and delivering customized 66kV to 765kV Substations, High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC), SVC & STATCOM solutions for utilities worldwide.
The role is part of GE grid system Integration for Service Projects (Refurbishment, Extension, System Upgrade for HV substation projects), based at Noida. It is to support GSI Service business by carrying out design and engineering for the tenders & projects.
Within this cross-canters and multicultural organization, the engineer is responsible to design of substation & optimization of engineering quantities and other technical activities that integrate all the required equipment considering their installation, operation, and maintenance constraints. He reports directly to engineering leader.
The candidate shall execute with association of workgroups, where applicable, in order to meet assigned objectives. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. In this role you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term, medium planning.
Job Description
Roles And Responsibilities
- Carry out project engineering related to projects (AIS/GIS bay extension, renovation & modernization of switchyard equipment / systems, green field projects etc.).
- Engineering would include primary / secondary electrical systems engineering.
- Reverse engineering related to brown filled projects.
- Engineering & design has to be carried out according to international standards (as applicable in the country of destination of the project), apart from following Indian standards for local projects.
- Preparation of basic Single Line Diagram, Layout, Plan & section of Overall plant, Substation and control room arrangement, Earthing & cabling layouts etc
- HV Equipment selection & sizing / Design of Earthing system / Cable system / Bus Bar Sizing / DSLP / Sag Tension calculation / Short-circuit force calculation / LT auxiliary system / Battery and charger Sizing / Illumination system and schedule as per IS/IEEE/IEC.
- RFQ / Technical Validation / Evaluation of vendor Drawings & Documents
- components, selection of equipment with best pricing options.
- Co-ordination and integration with Automation, Civil & MEP.
- Visit of site as per requirements to access the condition of existing Equipments/System for accuracy in estimation and Engineering and help to decide Go-No-go.
- Knowledge of Control & Protective Relaying and automation systems used in switchyards and MV/LV power distribution systems.
- Understanding of Control & Protection schemes / Interlocking logics / SAS / DCS
- Working experience with 3D Design Tools.
- Identify risks & opportunities during tender and execution.
- Understands interfaces with civil, mechanical, C&I / automation systems.
- Driving Technical negotiation with Customers/consultants.
- Effective verbal & written communication skill
Required Qualifications
Candidates need to have the following qualifications and experience:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an recognized university.
- Minimum 6 to 8 years experience in carrying out high voltage electrical substation (brown -field ) design
- Must possess technical, business and client interaction n skills.
- Exhibits Leadership skill
- Must be self-motivated with an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Must be a supportive team member, able to work in a collaborative environment as well as work on self-directed independent projects.
