Northrop Grumman is seeking a talented Principal Systems Engineer to join our Systems Integration & Test team under the Tactical Fighters Business Unit. Candidate should be a self-starter with a strong mechanical or electrical engineering background. This position will be in Linthicum, MD.

As part of the Systems Engineering Integration & Test functional homeroom, the Principal Engineer Systems will be responsible for supporting system-level hardware qualification testing.

Looking for second shift support in our ETL SIL. These responsibilities will include:

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Operate system bench and execute qualification test procedures for Environmental, EMI, and Electrical Power Testing
  • Troubleshooting hardware failures specifically with Environmental, EMI and Electrical Power testing conditions
  • Rigorous I&T processes & procedures
  • Effective communication with team leadership and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate internally and external team members
  • Ability to communicate test failures and support troubleshooting effort
  • Process/analyze data to generate qualification report SDRLs (supplier data requirement list) Compile data and define changes required in test equipment, test procedures, or new test requirements
  • Support test environment stand up at ETL and maintain interface documentation
  • Interface with hardware and systems engineers in support of troubleshooting and verification

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience or a Ph.D. with 0 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • US citizenship is required
  • The ability to obtain/maintain an Active DoD secret clearance and Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start is required
  • 3 years of experience with systems hardware
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware integration issues
  • Experience with executing MATLAB scripts
  • 2 years of experience troubleshooting system hardware and software configurations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience writing and running MATLAB scripts in MATE (MATLAB Automated Test Environment).
  • Experience executing formal test procedures in a lab environment
  • Experience with RF Hardware and test equipment
  • Experience with Environmental, EMI/EMC integration and testing

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. 

Primary Level Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
