Job Summary:
We are seeking an exceptionally skilled DevOps Engineer III to join our fast-paced and growing team. We hire only the strongest engineers, and this role is for those who take pride in their craft and consistently deliver at the highest level. This position is not for beginners—it is intended for experts who excel at designing, automating, and securing complex infrastructure in cloud and hybrid environments. You will play a critical role in shaping HaloMD’s infrastructure and deployment strategy, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability across all systems. As a senior contributor, you will be expected to lead initiatives, mentor others, and make critical architectural decisions that directly impact the company’s mission-critical applications.
As a DevOps Engineer III, you will be responsible for designing and implementing cloud infrastructure, driving automation, ensuring security and compliance, and supporting continuous integration and deployment pipelines with Octopus Deploy. This is a critical role that influences the stability, reliability, and scalability of HaloMD’s technology stack.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Cloud Management
- Design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Manage networking, storage, and compute resources to optimize performance and cost.
Automation & CI/CD
- Develop and maintain automated build, deployment, and release pipelines using Octopus Deploy.
- Ensure secure and repeatable deployments across multiple environments.
- Support blue-green, rolling, and zero-downtime deployment strategies.
Web Application Deployment & Networking
- Configure and manage NGINX, reverse proxies, and load balancers for web application availability and performance.
- Implement SSL/TLS, request routing, and caching strategies.
- Maintain strong expertise in DNS, including zone delegation, record types, TTL strategies, and troubleshooting propagation issues.
Monitoring & Reliability
- Implement observability practices including logging, metrics, and tracing with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, or Datadog.
- Proactively monitor application and infrastructure health; resolve performance bottlenecks and outages.
- Lead incident response for critical production issues and conduct post-mortems.
Security & Compliance
- Enforce best practices in security, access control, and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2).
- Manage secrets and identity integrations (Azure AD, Entra ID, or equivalent).
- Ensure system hardening and patch management across environments.
Collaboration & Best Practices
- Work closely with developers, QA, and data engineers to ensure smooth and secure deployments.
- Participate in architecture reviews and provide input on scalability and reliability.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, documentation, and process improvements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a related infrastructure-focused role.
- Strong proficiency with at least one cloud platform (Azure preferred, AWS or GCP acceptable).
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent).
- Hands-on experience with Octopus Deploy for CI/CD.
- Strong DNS expertise (zone management, record configuration, troubleshooting).
- Solid understanding of NGINX, reverse proxies, load balancers, and web application delivery.
- Expertise with SQL, including query optimization and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of SNMP for monitoring and network management.
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux system administration.
- Strong development and automation skills in Python.
- Proficiency in at least one shell scripting language (Bash, PowerShell, or similar).
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, AKS, or EKS).
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly diagnose complex issues.
- Experience working with Agile methodologies and modern SDLC practices.
Level III Expectations
- Lead the design and implementation of critical infrastructure projects.
- Make strategic decisions on system scalability, performance, and security.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Drive adoption of best practices in automation, monitoring, and reliability engineering.
- Identify and remediate systemic weaknesses across environments.
- Manage complex, multi-cloud or hybrid deployments.
- Lead major incident responses and ensure long-term resilience improvements.
- Serve as a key voice in shaping HaloMD’s DevOps strategy and roadmap.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kubernetes in production environments.
- Familiarity with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
- Knowledge of data pipeline and workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster).
- Experience with secrets management solutions (HashiCorp Vault, Azure Key Vault).
- Hands-on experience with advanced monitoring/alerting automation.
- Strong knowledge of compliance requirements in healthcare IT environments.
Education and Experience
- 7-10 year’s experience in a system administration and/or development operations role
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or other related degrees
