What You'll Do
The People Operations - People Systems Leader, is responsible for overseeing a team to shape and deliver a forward-looking People & Culture (“P&C”) technology strategy and roadmap. Working in close partnership with other P&C teams (including shared services, payroll, benefits, and compensation), IT and business stakeholders, the role ensures P&C systems are optimized for performance, usability, efficiency and scalability. The postholder will guide and lead a technical people systems team and drive the adoption of digital solutions, automation, and AI to enhance process reliability, data integrity, and the overall employee experience. As a member of the People Operations Leadership team, this role will also collaborate with a team of peer leaders to cross-functionally support the design and execution of the wider People Operations objectives and deliverables.
This role is open
globally as
hybrid (3 or more days a week in the office) in Carlsbad, London, or other Viasat offices or fully remote from any location. The role will require occasional travel internationally as needed.
The day-to-day
- Lead the planning and execution of the P&C technology strategy and systems roadmap, aligned with business priorities.
- Act as the functional owner for all P&C systems, ensuring effective governance, usability, and optimization.
- Partner with IT, P&C, Legal, Cybersecurity, and external vendors to manage system performance, security, integrations, and upgrades.
- Oversee data quality and integrity across all P&C systems, ensuring accurate, reliable, and compliant information.
- Own P&C data governance & security, including defining how data is stored, accessed and protected.
- Oversee compliance with GDPR and related privacy regulations, in partnership with related stakeholders.
- Lead applicable P&C platform integration and design.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver system enhancements, reporting/analytics solutions, and self-service tools that improve operational efficiency.
- Drive adoption of digital tools, automation, and AI capabilities to improve the employee and manager experience.
- Monitor emerging trends in P&C technology and recommend innovative solutions to support continuous improvement.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to People & Culture colleagues and business leaders on P&C systems capability and usage.
- Effectively manage and guide the team responsible for delivering all aspects of the people systems.
What You'll Need
- Experience leading a team of HR experts through complex organizational transformation and evolution.
- Proven experience in P&C technology, systems architecture, and/or HRIS leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of entire suite of P&C systems (e.g., HRIS systems such as Workday and SuccessFactors or similar, payroll systems, timecard systems, applicant tracking systems) and their configuration, optimization, and integration.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team to develop and execute technology roadmaps in partnership with IT and business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into system solutions.
- Experience in managing system upgrades, integrations, vendor relationships, and third-party integrations.
- Excellent understanding of data governance, data integrity, and reporting best practices.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
- Track record of delivering process improvements through digital tools, automation, or AI.
What Will Help You On The Job

- Experience leading related P&C functions such as payroll, talent, reward.
- Exposure to advanced analytics, predictive modelling, or AI in P&C applications.
- Relevant professional or technical certifications in P&C systems or enterprise technology.
Salary range
$180,500.00 - $285,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $224,000.00- $336,000.00/ annually
