Data Engineer Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Location: Remote (within Sweden only)
Contract Duration: 12 months (with possible extension)
Start Date: ASAP
We are seeking a highly skilled GCP Data Engineer to join our client, a leading IT services company, on a 12-month contract. This is a fully remote position, but candidates must be based in Sweden and authorized to work there.
You will be responsible for building and optimizing scalable data pipelines, implementing modern data solutions, and supporting analytics teams in leveraging Google Cloud Platform services effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows on GCP
- Implement data storage solutions using BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Cloud SQL
- Optimize data processing and ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability
- Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver insights
- Troubleshoot and resolve data engineering issues across environments
- Document solutions and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform
- Hands-on experience with BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Dataproc, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Composer
- Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Scala)
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and distributed systems
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, or other Infrastructure as Code tools
- Solid grasp of data governance and security best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote setup
- Must be based in Sweden with the right to work
