Job Summary
We are undertaking several strategic initiatives to enhance and extend our Fixed Income and Equity analytics platforms using the latest technologies. A key focus is building highly scalable and performant systems that adhere to best practices in object-oriented and database design. The Oracle 21c relational database is the foundation for our data and models, supporting advanced analytics and high-volume computations.
The Senior Database Developer will play a critical role in designing and developing this platform, which is architected as a distributed system of services that manage data-intensive computations across a large compute environment. This position requires strong expertise in database development, system optimization, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in a Java-centric environment leveraging modern messaging systems and data tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to define functional and technical design requirements.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams and senior leadership to deliver robust and scalable database solutions.
- Develop and optimize physical relational data models on Oracle 21c.
- Design, implement, and maintain stored procedures, functions, packages, and performance tuning strategies.
- Ensure code quality through testing, reviews, and adherence to best practices in database development.
- Contribute to distributed system design for large-scale computation and analytics.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in database development with Oracle or similar RDBMS.
- Strong expertise in SQL, PL/SQL, performance tuning, and database design principles.
- Experience with distributed systems, data modeling, and high-performance computing environments.
- Familiarity with Java or other object-oriented programming languages.
- Hands-on experience with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, JMS) preferred.
- Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
