HPC Network Engineer in United State

Visa sponsorship & Relocation 1 day ago

We are currently working with a cutting-edge financial technology firm to find a skilled HPC Network Engineer. This is a unique opportunity to join an elite team and build out the next generation of their trading and research environments. The ideal candidate will be at the intersection of technology and quantitative computing, playing a key role in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

This isn't just a maintenance role - you will have a direct impact on the performance and reliability of our client's systems. As an HPC Network Engineer, you'll be instrumental in supporting and scaling their vast HPC infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include:

• Engineering and Automation: Architecting, deploying, and managing an extensive network environment with over 1,200 nodes and hundreds of petabytes of data. Automation is crucial, so you will use your Python or Bash skills to streamline operations and build developer tools.

• Deep-Dive Troubleshooting: Going beyond surface-level issues to diagnose and resolve complex network problems. A deep understanding of kernel and low-level networking, including tools like tcpdump, will be essential.

• Collaboration: Working closely with quantitative researchers, traders, and fellow technologists. The role requires someone who can not only solve technical problems but also communicate effectively and partner with the business.

• Growth and Ownership: Taking full ownership of projects and systems, from design to implementation. The company operates with a flat structure where ideas and skills are valued over titles.

Skills Required

The client is open to candidates from various industries, but they are looking for specific qualifications and a particular mindset:

• Experience: You should have at least five years of experience in a networking role, with a minimum of one to two years of direct experience in an HPC environment.

• Technical Skills: A strong background in systems and networking is required. Experience with parallel filesystems and automation are highly desirable. While knowledge of specific vendor hardware is not a requirement, the client primarily uses Arista equipment. Experience with GPU technologies (NVIDIA or AMD) and parallel file systems such as Lustre or BeeGFS

• Mindset: You should have a genuine passion for problem-solving, a desire to learn, and the ability to work effectively in a team and individually. A growth mindset is critical.

• Personality: You are open, collaborative, and enjoy sharing ideas in a fast-paced environment.
