Overview

The Java/Full Stack Engineer – VA WebLGY develops and maintains applications and services while writing code to established standards with unit, security, and automation testing. The role supports coding, troubleshooting, and integrating services; collaborates with cross‑functional teams to address business needs; learns leading practices, builds understanding of infrastructure, and contributes to scalable and secure solutions. Responsibilities include assisting with application modifications, configuration, and general‑purpose development, producing high‑quality deliverables with a team lead, reviewing solution options, and maintaining positive client relationships as a supportive teammate. Success requires a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience (or equivalent), excellent written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail and problem‑solving, the ability to shift priorities, leadership amid ambiguity, and persistence to drive work to completion.

Key Functions

  • Develop code in accordance with established development standards, to include unit testing, security testing, and automation testing.
  • Assist in developing, and maintaining applications and services.
  • Support coding, troubleshooting, and integrating services, while gaining hands-on experience with different platforms.
  • Learn leading practices while improving understanding of infrastructure, and contributing to the development of scalable and secure solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address business needs effectively.
  • Assist existing applications modifications, configure applications and support general-purpose applications development.
  • Create high quality client deliverables with regular supervision from team lead.
  • Prepare and review solution options with team lead to solve tough challenges.
  • Be a good teammate to the client and the delivery team, encouraging and enabling teammates to be their best selves.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the client.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience.
  • An additional 2 years of experience with an Associate's Degree.
  • An additional 4 years of experience with a high school diploma.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Can easily shift focus between high priority tasks as required.
  • Demonstrates leadership in the face of ambiguity, rather than waiting for direction from above.
  • Navigates through challenges to consistently get things over the finish line.

Preferred Qualifications Or Skills

  • Oracle Certified Professional: Java SE 17 Developer, AWS Certified Developer – Associate, or IEEE Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) certifications
  • Existing Public Trust clearance at the Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal agency.
  • Familiarity with the mortgage industry.
  • Experience implementing AWS solutions for the federal government or Department of Veterans Affairs specifically.
  • Experience using JIRA and Confluence.

Position Details

  • Employment type: Full-Time, W2
  • Location: 100% Remote (US-based)
  • Hours: 40 hours/week with availability during core business hours of 8am-5pm ET
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Eligibility: Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • Salary: $60,000-$95,000
