The Principal QA Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and performance of backend data processing and retrieval systems. This is a hands-on role for an expert in Playwright (preferred), Python, SQL, and API testing with a deep background in web application automation, data validation, and test framework development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks for web applications and backend data validation using Playwright and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Provide mentorship and training to other team members to expand the team’s automation skillset and test coverage.
- Develop, execute, and maintain automated GUI tests using tools such as Squish.
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to analyze requirements and define robust testing strategies.
- Build and maintain automated test suites for APIs, backend services, and data workflows.
- Ensure comprehensive data validation across relational databases and large-scale data systems.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure consistent quality and rapid delivery.
- Identify, document, and drive resolution of defects in collaboration with development teams.
Requirements
- Experience:
- 10+ years of QA engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on automation.
- Expertise in Playwright for web automation (preferred).
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and API testing.
- Strong experience designing and implementing automation frameworks.
- Familiarity with GUI automation tools (Squish experience a plus).
- Hands-on experience validating complex backend data systems.
- Solid knowledge of CI/CD practices and integration of automated testing pipelines.
- Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to mentor junior team members.
